Armstrong Atlantic State University, a senior university of the University System of Georgia, welcomes students who wish to pursue course work toward a graduate degree or certificate. The following items should be returned with the application packet:
General Admission requirements for every Degree and Certificate Program include**:
Two official transcripts (request form) in a sealed envelope from the institution attended granting the baccalaureate degree and from each institution where graduate credit was earned
All students that have undergraduate or graduate degrees or courses that have been completed in countries outside the United States, are required to have an outside evaluation agency do a transcript and degree evaluation of both the courses and/or degree. A course-by-course evaluation with a grade point calculation is required. Acceptable evaluation agencies are Josef A. Silny & Associates, Inc., (www.jsilny.com) or World Education Services, (www.wes.org).
This evaluation must state that you have the minimum equivalency of a U.S. Bachelor's degree. If your evaluation does not state that you have the equivalent of at least a U.S. Bachelor's degree, then you will not be eligible to apply to the Graduate School, and your paperwork will be referred to our Undergraduate Admissions Office. Neither AASU nor the Graduate School will act as an intermediary between a student and the evaluation agency.
Keep in mind that evaluations may take several weeks to be completed. Application deadlines and documentation deadlines are very important. Please plan accordingly.

Once the completed application is received, please allow 2-3 weeks for processing. Your admission status may be checked at anytime by clicking Check Admission Status.
Each individual program determines degree admission categories at the time of acceptance. Admission decisions are based on undergraduate GPA, test scores (if applicable to degree program requirements), masters level course work (if applicable), and recommendation letters (if applicable).
Admission categories for the School of Graduate Studies are as follows:
Regular
A student who meets or exceeds all of the requirements for admission into the degree program, as set forth by the academic department.
Provisional
A student who meets the minimum requirements for admission into the degree program, as set forth by the academic department.
*Limited
Does not meet the minimum requirements for the degree program. However, student may be allowed by the academic department to take a maximum of six hours of graduate course work while working to meet the regular degree admissions requirements. (*Not all programs allow for Limited students.)
Transient
A student who has been given permission from their home institution to attend Armstrong Atlantic State University for no more than two consecutive semesters. (It is up to individual institutions if courses taken at AASU will transfer back to home institution.)
Certificate Admission
A student who hasexpressed intent of working towards a graduate level certificate, i.e. Gerontology, Heritage Tourism or Women’s Studies. (This does not include Teacher Certification. May not be eligible for Financial Aid—aid is certificate program specific.)
Teacher Certification
A student who is not seeking a degree, but is working only towards teacher certification in a specified area. Students who have been verified by the College of Education as following their individual program of study, as prescribed by PSC, may be eligible for aid as a 5th year senior, who has not exhausted undergraduate eligibility. The Office of Financial Aid is unable to disburse your monies until:
Formal attendance verification is completed by the Registrar’s Office.
AND
The Financial Aid Office has been officially notified by the College of Education, that your individual program of study has been verified.
Non-Degree Seeking
A student who is not seeing a degree, but is only taking classes for possible teacher re-certification, prerequisites into a degree program or personal enrichment. (Students are limited to six graduate credit hours. Financial Aid is not available for non-degree students.)

International Admissions requirements (for students currently on F-1 visas or requiring I-20’s to apply for F-1 visa’s at the embassy or consulate in their home country):
